About Us
The Escambia Community Collaborative is a community-wide strategic planning partnership working toward improving overall community health which includes our physical, mental, economic, environmental and social health.
The primary partners of the Escambia Community Collaborative, United Way of Escambia County, Escambia County Health Department and Partnership for a Healthy Community have, for at least fifteen years, been independently gathering community information to make strategic decisions within their own organizations. Through information sharing and growth of positive working relationship some of our shared objectives and areas of focus became clear; we were essentially saying the same things, moving in the same directions. The interconnectedness of physical, mental, economic, environmental and social factors also became increasingly clear. Therefore, in the summer of 2006 we combine efforts and brought together all other relevant community sectors for this unique comprehensive process to speak with one combined voice with combined priorities and collective methods to measure our improvement.
The Collaborative conducted a comprehensive community assessment to help define the vision for a strong, healthy Escambia County. This vision provides a foundation for a community-wide focus to improve priority issues and to allocate scarce community resources. The assessment included:
• Data and reports from multiple reliable local sources
• Over 700 paper, phone and web surveys
• Six separate focus groups
Your input was a vital piece and made a difference!
“Our community’s voice is a critical piece of this puzzle,” said Jean Norman, United Way of Escambia County President. “We want all members of our community to know that what they think matters and give them a chance to be a part of the solution.”
During discussions prioritizing survey results and the leadership team was able to identify a vision and select issues with measurable goals and indicators that have the greatest probability to achieve the vision. We look forward to working together to build the vision for a strong, healthy Escambia County. Your voice was heard!
